Sr. Paralegal, Litigation Operations

This role is dynamic and will require the individual to manage various matters for the litigation department, including responding to different types of record and information requests for SPE's outside auditors, budgeting, or subpoenas and providing paralegal support on commercial, personal injury and intellectual property litigation matters. The individual should take responsibility for assigned projects and be proactive in accomplishing tasks. A desire to work efficiently, respond promptly to inquiries, and foster working relationships across company departments is crucial for this role.
Responsibilities will include:
+ Subpoenas: Manage process from receiving to responding to third party subpoenas issued in CA and other jurisdictions. Collect and review documents from various company department contacts, prepare responses, declarations, and in some instances, objections. Must understand the different legal requirements for subpoenas issued in state and federal court litigation. Familiarity with subpoenas issued through the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board is a plus.
+ Requests for personnel records and information requests: Work with company department contacts to gather documents responsive to requests sent by current/former employees and/or their counsel.
+ Levies: Manage process from receiving, responding, and complying with attachments issued to judgment creditors, including but not limited to, levies issued pursuant to Writs of Execution. Where applicable, work with accounts payable, participations, residuals, and payroll departments to respond and ensure continued compliance with court orders.
+ Coordinate and prepare reports of pending U.S. and foreign litigation claims to outside auditors.
+ Coordinate and oversee creation of periodic litigation budgets and projections of expenses for internal purposes.
+ Conduct legal and other research and familiarity with Lexis Advance.
+ Manage outside counsel billing.
+ General paralegal assistance with global litigation and arbitration matters relating to commercial, personal injury, intellectual property and other content-related claims.
Job Requirements:
+ Education: BA degree, Paralegal certificate a plus
+ 5-7 years of experience in paralegal support at a law firm or in-house at a global company
+ Some experience with commercial, personal injury, intellectual property and other content-related litigation
+ Strong preference for entertainment industry experience
+ Experience with subpoenas, information requests, levies, POAs
+ Ability to effectively use standard document creation and management programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and iManage
+ Experience with e-discovery and document production
+ Ability to do legal research and familiarity with Lexis Advance
+ Understand and maintain legal privilege
+ Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
+ Excellent writing skills, including writing clearly and concisely for both a legal and non-legal audience
+ Careful attention to detail
+ Experience dealing with lawyers, executives, and outside auditors
+ Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
+ Commitment to professionalism, collegiality and preserving confidentiality
The anticipated base salary for this position is $90,000 to $125,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
