The Design Engineer
is responsible for the complete design of a product, within the given performance requirements. S/he will perform required engineering calculations and analysis as necessary including stress analysis (FEA) to verify robustness, dimensioning and tolerancing to verify fit and form, design failure effect analysis (DFMEA) to predict potential failures before they occur, and design for manufacturability. S/he will implement improvements in acquisition, analysis, and simulation techniques. S/he will become an expert in design, which includes analyzing existing designs and design methods, and developing improved ones. This position will require the individual to present technical proposals to customers that include preparing technical drawings, technical reports, test and analysis results, and detailed presentations.
This person will be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. S/he will work closely with manufacturing engineers on manufacturing process development to develop the most accurate and cost effective production process. S/he needs to participate in internal training exercises/technical exchanges.
Knows and understands the current specifications of the Quality Policy and Procedures and contributes to the achievement of the quality objectives.
CRITICAL SKILLS: Technical
: applied knowledge of stress and fatigue analysis, heat transfer theory, fluid dynamics, and vibration theory. Working knowledge of applicable data acquisition equipment, LuK package software (OJT provided), simulation methodology, GD&T, and current quality specifications.
: a good communicator, must be a team player and be capable of negotiation, and coaching. Strong presentation skills are a benefit.
