Employment Litigation Of Counsel
A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Employment Litigation Of Counsel with 9+ years of experience in employment litigation. The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing and running litigation cases in a first-chair capacity, including defending and litigating a wide range of employment-related claims and agency charges. The role involves advising and training employers on employment and labor law issues and representing them in various legal forums. Class Action/PAGA experience is preferred. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to professionalism and teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims and agency charges, including class/collective actions and discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour, contract, employment tort, and non-compete cases.
- Advise, counsel, and train employers on various employment and labor law issues, including compliance with federal and state laws.
- Represent employers in court, arbitration, before administrative agencies, and at mediations.
- Manage and run litigation cases in a first-chair capacity, including overseeing case strategy, discovery, and motion practice.
- Supervise and mentor associate attorneys and paralegals, including delegating assignments and providing feedback.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of current state and federal agency procedures and employment law developments.
- Provide strategic advice on employment law matters and risk management.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to excellence in all aspects of case management and legal representation.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality service and successful outcomes.
Requirements:
- 9+ years of experience in employment litigation, with substantial experience managing and running litigation cases in a first-chair capacity.
- JD from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Current admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
- Class Action/PAGA experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience, including delegating assignments and providing feedback to associates and paralegals.
- In-depth understanding of current state and federal agency procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
Skills:
- Expertise in employment litigation, including class actions and PAGA claims.
- Strong advising and training capabilities on employment and labor law issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee complex litigation cases.
