Surgical Technologist - Waukesha Memorial 0.9 FTE PMs

Job Type: PMs - 2nd Shift

Weekly Hours: 36

We Are Hiring: Surgical Technologist - Waukesha Memorial 0.9 FTE PMs

Schedule: PM shift hours - 1300 - 2130 (extended shifts - 10's or 12's will be considered)
Overnight call shifts: 1-2 per week
Weekend on call rotation: 1 every 6-7 weeks
Holiday on call: 1-2 per year

Function as the scrub person. Works under the direct supervision of an RN or physician to facilitate safe and effective care during invasive and operative procedures. Ensure that the operating room is safe, equipment is functioning properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Facilitates a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.



Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrates understanding and rationale of all procedures performed within the designated specialty.
  2. Identifies functional safety needs for the individual patient or customer and takes appropriate action.
  3. Meets all required performance standards as identified by Department, Hospital, and Organization.
  4. Demonstrates practice of basic patient care concepts and safety.
  5. Applies principles of asepsis in a manner that provides optimal patient care in the OR.
  6. Performs basic surgical case preparation skills.
  7. Performs the role of first scrub.
  8. Perform as second assisting technologist.
  9. Demonstrates responsible behavior as a health care professional.
  10. Able to scrub all scheduled cases - ASC.
  11. Maintains all ST I & II requirements.
  12. Actively participates in unit PI activities.
  13. Takes active role in keeping specialty updated.
  14. Is able to precept student and/or new employee regarding their specialty team.
  15. Demonstrates ability to anticipate case needs.
  16. Takes personal responsibility for own learning needs.
  17. Recognizes and takes initiative to seek needed cases, asking for help if necessary.
  18. Is able to scrub all core cases - WMH OR.
  19. Completes a yearly learning project or activity.
  20. Is able to perform a basic skin prep.
  21. WMH: Assigned to one of the following specialties: Gynecological/Urological; Cardiothoracic; General/Vascular; Orthopedic/Neurologic - and is responsible for knowledge of "core cases" across specialties.


What You Will Do:

Facilitates a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.

What You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist program CST preferred or equivalent military training program.
  • AST membership preferred.
  • Minimum License BLS (CPR); or ability to obtain upon hire.
