Job Details
JOB DUTIES:
- Review customer specifications and project design criteria
- Using computer programs, design tools, engineering documents and structural engineering fundamentals, analyze and design structures and appurtenances to meet customer specifications and project design criteria
- Prepare design calculations and cost estimating information
- Review drawings for design conformance and customer revisions
- Coordinate customer design revisions with project management, modeling and estimating
- Resolve problems of ambiguity during drafting of shop drawings
- Report the impact of design changes to the contract administrator
- Check the design of projects designed by other engineers as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with background in Structural Design or equivalent work experience
- Master’s Degree preferred
- E.I.T. strongly preferred
- 3+ years design engineering experience
- Steel design experience and/or coursework required
- Experience with structural design software
- Ability to produce complete and accurate engineering packages (calculations, documentation, details/marked up drawings)
- Complete understanding of customer design requirements shown on specs, drawings
- Intermediate understanding of fabrication practices and tolerances
