Lean Six Sigma Manager - Manufacturing

As a core member of the Operational Excellence team, the Lean Sigma Manager is responsible for building Focus Factory level goals and execution plans in support of the Manufacturing Focus Factory and other shared service organizations within the plant structure.  You will meet the Focus Factory’s short and long-term goals for improved quality performance, increased service levels, reduced COGS, and EHS performance in support of the Site and Global Business Unit goals.

This role supports ~$250MM cost of production across a variety of product families manufactured at the site.

Lean Six Sigma Manager - Manufacturing - Reporting to the Site Operational Excellence Manager, you will:

  • Direct reporting responsibility for Focus Factory (FF) Operational Excellence support staff.
  • Coach and trainer creation and sustainment of OpEx Structure as defined within the global operational excellence program.
  • Manage Operational Excellence programs and efforts at the FF for short and long-term goals achievement assuring culture and systems development in support of continuous improvement in cost and quality performance.
  • Manage FF Lean Sigma Certification Programs (Green Belt/Black Belt) and assure resources are leveraged for site continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for Operational Excellence training programs and events at the FF (DMAIC, A3 Problem Solving, First Time Quality, etc….) assuring training and events support site goals for continuous improvement
  • Assure Operations Excellence training and programs are in place and managed to reduce operational costs by 5-7% yearly within the FF.
  • Lead plant improvement projects of significant size and scope both within and outside of FF responsibility
  • Assist plant management in selecting projects, project/team leaders and champions that align with business/functional goals and strategies.
  • Lead the coordination and deployment of the Focus Factory Operational Excellence plan for Cell Operating System (COS) 
  • Lead / coach COS conversion teams through COS playbook activity for successful a “Go Live” results.
  • Work with NPD teams on the Design for COS of new Production Cells.
  • Assist leadership in establishing baseline and target metrics for key processes.
  • Coordinate, and conduct as applicable, training in key Operational Excellence areas.
  • Support the Site Operational Excellence Manager in the overall deployment of OpEx training, best practice sharing and in mentoring project teams and leaders.
  • Coach, motivate and foster professional development of direct reports.
  • Perform regular performance reviews with staff.

Lean Six Sigma Manager - Manufacturing Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
  • BS/BA degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field of study with a minimum of 7 years of business operations and/or plant manufacturing or engineering experience which included 3+ years of demonstrated process improvement program success.
  • Certified Black Belt or Master Black Belt*
  • Solid understanding of Engineering, Project Management, Lean Principles, Six Sigma, Financial acumen.
  • Ability to manage cross functionally with direct and indirect influence
  • Ability to coach and facilitate individually and at the large-scale level
  • Experience with Lean policy deployment
  • Experience with Cell manufacturing system deployment for lean manufacturing
  • Ability to directly lead and/or coordinate high-impact process improvement projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proven skills working with cross-functional teams and presentation skills.
