Social Media and Content Specialist

Purpose of the Job

The Social Media and Content Specialist serves as a primary resource for internal and member-facing content.  The position is responsible for developing content for all channels to support Truliant’s brand and encourage member engagement.  The Social Media and Content Specialist will contribute expertise to all promotional marketing campaigns to optimize our existing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn along with monitoring opportunity on new platforms.  The position requires a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content as well as joining relevant conversations on behalf of the brand and providing support to current and prospective members.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Acts as a Corporate Marketing Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Content Marketing/Social Strategy.
  2. Writes, edits and proofreads content for multi-purpose marketing and corporate use, formulating a cross-platform content strategy.
  3. Works with internal teams to build content and social media editorial calendars for external and internal audiences that support the company’s marketing and business objectives.
  4. Assists in the development of campaigns to drive employee engagement, achieve business goals and promote thought leadership.
  5. Develops content ideas based on brand objectives. Monitors and reports results.
  6. Works with corporate communications and marketing teams to develop brand tone, personality and objectives on social platforms and Public Relations forums.
  7. Identifies social media and content marketing opportunities.
  8. Expands the company’s influencer marketing programs and communicates influencer campaigns to internal and external partners at all levels.
  9. Builds strong relationships with creators across the social landscape, inclusive of all relevant platforms.
  10. Creates and distributes content that supports Truliant’s brand on social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and LinkedIn and any additional appropriate emerging platforms.
  11. Supports public relations and media relations activities as they relate to social media and influencer marketing.
  12. Works with graphic designers to create original imagery, graphics, animated GIFs, videos, and other visual content that align with the user habits within each community which may involve participation in professional photo and video shoots.
  13. Stays abreast of latest trends and tactics in digital – social media, email marketing, blog marketing.
  14. Engages in daily monitoring, management and maintenance of the material on social media communities.
  15. Uses tools to measure, report and share learnings with internal marketing, brand teams and agency partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations environment
  • Must be skilled at managing multiple social media platforms
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, with strong collaborative skills
  • Must have strong proofreading, copywriting, copy editing, and grammar skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion
  • Must have advanced skills in MS Office, including Excel and Word
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
  • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant’s members

Physical Requirements

  •    Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
  •    Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer.
  •    Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.

Education and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience in Marketing and Communication required
  • Experience in financial services marketing preferred
  • Experience managing social media platforms and monitoring/tracking results required
  • Experience with project management required; includes planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives
