Job Scope & Purpose:

Our well-funded Greater Boston area client is seeking multiple hires to join its Process Development team, focused on implementing process automation for cellular manufacturing using both existing and next-generation technology that is under development.  These hires will design and execute studies to translate innovative research and development programs to GMP manufacturing.  Additionally, these hires will develop processes for genetically modified and minimally manipulated allogeneic and autologous cellular products.  If you are looking for a company that is tremendously backed financially and intellectually, with a revolutionary new model to effectively develop cell, gene and related therapies for patients with severe and life-threatening disorders, then look no further.  You will not find a more interesting opportunity in the local landscape!  Reach out to Todd Jamison or Kevin Rees for more information. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead (at Scientist level) or assist (at Associate Scientist level) in the establishment of a cellular process development infrastructure, including the set- up of a working lab
  • Design and execute PD studies to translate research processes to GMP compliant ones
  • Assist and execute internal and external tech transfer activities
  • Maintain and manage inventory for all cell line and cell-derived reference material
  • Implement next generation cell processing technology for the manufacturing of cell therapies
  • Design and conduct process characterization studies
  • Represent process development functions in cross-functional forums
  • Generate and provide technical information to support process transfer and GMP manufacturing activities

Primary Job Requirements:

  • Degree in a biological science required
  • Scientist level: Ph.D. with 1-4  years or MS with 7-10  years of relevant experience, including experience in developing cell therapy manufacturing processes; advanced skills in the design of experiments and data analysis, with extensive knowledge of cell biology, large scale cell culture platforms, cell processing, and cell cryopreservation principles
  • Associate Scientist level: MS with 1-4  years or BS with at least four  years of relevant cell therapy experience
  • Experience with closed system processing, blood, and cell processing technologies, cell characterization methods, manufacturing under cGMP, validation, and process comparability in a regulated environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced and nimble environment is required
