Pipe Layer
The Pipe Layer shall perform physically demanding work including but not limited to lifting sections of pipe and correctly orienting them within a trench, shoveling and arranging gravel for a trench, and installing fittings for various size pipes and connections. Pipe Layer work requires constant attention to safety on the job to prevent incidents including but not limited to falling pipes, caved-in trenches, hazardous breathing conditions, etc.
The Pipe Layer shall install and repair a variety of pipe systems, including those moving water from reservoirs to municipal water treatment plants and finally to residential, commercial, or public buildings. The Pipe Layer may also install or repair systems that dispose of waste from private or public facilities and join these systems into new or existing public or private systems. Additionally, the Pipe Layer may need to install or repair systems that supply gas or carry steam from private or public facilities and join these systems into new or existing public or private systems. The Pipe Layer may be involved in installing or repairing systems for high or low-pressure used in manufacturing, the generation of electricity, or in heating and cooling of structures. The Pipe Layer may need to install or repair systems constructed from clay, concrete, plastic, cast iron, copper, or any other pipe material required by the project design and specifications. The Pipe Layer may also install or repair automatic control systems for the various piping systems installed or repaired by the Company.
Before physically setting the pipe, the Pipe Layer shall prepare and grade the trenches manually or with machinery assistance. The Pipe Layer may need to assemble pipe systems with welding, glue, cement, or other joinders as required by jurisdiction and project specifications.
Qualifications
- The Pipe Layer shall understand the job site plans and specifications, as well as OSHA regulations and jurisdictional regulations.
- The Pipe Layer shall complete the project tasks set out by Management, the Project Manager, and the onsite Foreman.
- The Pipe Layer shall identify grades and types of pipe, utilize tools of the trade, and handle materials necessary for efficient completion of the project design goals.
- The Pipe Layer shall work well in a team environment in the assigned project, laying pipe at an exceptional level to achieve project design goals.
- The Pipe Layer shall be able to quickly solve simple site problems and tasks such as calculating grades and order of operations required for efficient project completion.
- The Pipe Layer shall maintain flexibility in project roles and jobsite assignments.
- The Pipe Layer shall have the initiative to learn additional tasks such as the operation of equipment and team management.
- On time and present for work every day.
- Embraces and incorporates a Culture of Safety as a Shared Responsibility. Consistent adherence to PPE Requirements.
- Availability to work unscheduled hours throughout the year.
- Maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure all projects comply with necessary health and safety regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships between the Company and all vendors and clients.
- Cooperate with onsite Foreman and employees to facilitate optimal project completion and represent CTS professionally.
- Conduct onsite discussions with Foreman regarding best methods to accomplish project completion.
- Competently maintain company equipment, vehicles, and tools while reporting mechanical issues.
- Take initiative to learn and master new skills and machinery.
