Summary:   
The Staff Accountant will work closely with the cost accounting team in the collection and analysis of data to determine jobs costs of business products.  

Responsibilities: 
Partner with Cost Accounting Manager in preparing monthly journal entries for inventory, production and cost of sales.
Upload requested entries to the GL and Journal.
Convert large raw Microsoft Excel data files into required necessary reports.
Maintenance of item ledgers and sub ledgers.
Provide weekly and monthly reports as requested.
Assist Cost Accounting Manager with reconciliation of raw materials, WIP and finished goods inventory accounts.
Research and correct coding errors affecting cost of products; resolution to prevent future errors. 
Ensure proper allocation of direct costs over products based on applicable basis of allocation.
Prepare and post JEs to reclassify expenses to WIP or Prepaid as necessary.    
Responsible for entering item masters into the ERP system for new item, i.e. SKUs and entering proper configuring for each SKU related to projects.
Assisting in the timely closure of components of project accounting.
Build relationships with departments that affect inventory and cost of sales and ensure their information is received timely and accurately.
Assist with annual physical inventory as requested.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.  
Demonstrated experience with advanced Excel formulas (vlookups, pivot tables, data analysis).
Solid understanding of accounting, finance, budgeting and cost control procedures.
Knowledge of account balancing and reconciling skills along with research and resolution.
Basic knowledge involving inventory transactions, cost analysis and month-end close.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
Adaptability to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events.
Effective time management skills, sense of urgency, self-motivated and critical attention to detail. 
Proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook. Aptitude to learn other software.
Advanced only skill level in MS Excel.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX helpful.
