Scheduler for Biofuels with Environmental Credits

Mercuria Energy America Houston, TX Full-Time

Mercuria is seeking to hire a Scheduler for the biofuels desk reporting to either Greenwich CT, or Houston TX office. The successful candidate will have experience with the accounting and allocation of environmental credits physical scheduling of buy/sell trades utilizing truck, rail, and barge transportation.


Key Responsibilities:


Provides leadership, support and coordination of activities with external counterparties, internal stakeholders, external moderated transaction systems, regulatory agencies, and transportation companies for trades (buy, sells, and exchanges). Transacts environmental credit transfers within external systems with assurance that transactions are correctly captured within Mercuria internal systems to reflect correct risk and inventory. Key role supporting the optimization of the environmental credit business primarily but not limited to the RFS and LCFS programs. Additional responsibilities will include active learning in the development of new environmental credit markets. Interprets and administers company policies and procedures as delegated by management. Ensures the plans and performance of the various functions within the organization meet or exceed management expectations and overall Mercuria compliance strategy with all relevant credit programs.


General Responsibilities:


  • Scheduling the receipt and transfer of environmental credits associated with the purchase / sale of physical commodities in collaboration with physical deliveries
  • Responsible for scheduling the receipt and transfer of environmental credits (not associated with a physical delivery)
  • Assist in preparation, review and submittal of regularly scheduled compliance reporting
  • Controls and confirms inventory levels inclusive of reconciliation (physical volume and credits)
  • Confirm receipts and accuracy of customers monthly nominations
  • Monitor exchange balances to ensure accuracy and details of any imbalances
  • Confirm monthly business with customers
  • Prepare and assemble monthly worksheets and update as needed for operation and front office personnel
  • Assist accounting with issues/adjustments as needed
  • Support upgrades or enhancements to applications and/or interfaces to applications, including testing
  • Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.


Education / Technical Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree – Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Logistics or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience with commodity scheduling
  • Experience using the EPA Moderated Transaction System to manage RINs and LCFS Reporting Tool preferred
  • Advanced use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Must be able to read and write the English language,
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to work as a team to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
