Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Downers Grove is seeking to hire a Director of Music. This position is full-time with benefits. The Director of Music is an integral member of the Worship staff at St. Joseph’s Parish, responsible for preparing music that serves the parish community and consistently reaches out to evangelize to all. With the goal of planning, facilitating, and leading joyful and engaging public worship for the parish, the Director works closely with the pastor and Director of Liturgy, and collaborates with the pastoral staff, liturgical ministers, and other members of the parish as appropriate.

The Director is committed to being a pastoral musician, who shares faith, serves the community, and expresses the love of God and neighbor by nurturing personal spiritual and ministerial growth. This position requires flexibility of schedule to adjust to the needs of the church, with a wide variety of events that occur during the week, evenings, and on weekends.

Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Music or Liturgical Music, with preference for advanced education in music. Candidates must demonstrate organ/piano and vocal proficiency. Candidates must be Catholic, in good standing, who also supports the mission and vision of the parish.
