The Lead Admission Counselor (LAC) will serve as the “second in command” to the Admissions Director (AD). This role will support the AD in completing administrative duties and training of employees. The LAC will have the opportunity to learn all aspects involved in being an AD. The AD will mentor the LAC to help him/her gain experience needed for advancement into related roles within the company.

Lead Admission Counselor Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Covers for Admission Director in her/his absence

• Assist AD with administrative duties (ie. reporting, budgeting, planning, etc)

• Support the AD in training, coaching and mentoring of new hires and existing Admissions Counselors

• Stay on top of all incoming inquiries and inquiry updates from the ASC to ensure they are being addressed in a timely manner

• Support AD in review of UltiPro time keeping system for team

• Provide Admission Counselors with feedback/training regarding medical necessity, to ensure we are bringing in appropriate admissions and adequate information is being gathered to obtain initial authorizations

• Provide AD with feedback regarding Clinical and Medical staff documentation practices, to ensure adequate information is being provided to obtain UR authorizations

• May offer support &/or training to offsite teams when needed (ie. ASC, TPS’s, referents etc)

• Conducts daily flash meetings in AD’s absence

• Help cultivate positive interactions between TPS’s, referents, Bayside staff and the admission team

• Responsible for accurate maintenance of Administrative Admission Census

• Sends morning email with census and admissions update from the previous day to marketers and admin team

• After-hours on call admission coverage to support/address department needs

LAC will also be responsible for the regular Admission Counselor duties. These include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities Include:

• Responding to intake calls

• Admissions screening and assessments

• Entering information into electronic contact management and billing systems

• Consulting with Director of Admissions and other Clinical and Medical Staff

• Creating admission documents and completing paperwork with new clients and family

• Verifying health insurance benefits

• Completing pre-certifications for your admissions, and limited concurrent authorization, and discharge reviews with insurance companies (Utilization Review)

• Financial Counseling with clients/families and collection of payment for services

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior admissions experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree, Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, or equivalent prior admissions, mental health or chemical dependency treatment experience

• An understanding of substance abuse and dual-diagnosis issues and treatment

• Someone looking to establish a long-term employment with Bayside Marin and/or Acadia
