Purple Ink llc Indianapolis, IN (On Site) Full-Time

The Human Resources Generalist will work with the HR team to develop and implement the overall strategy for human resources and will work alongside the finance and administration team to advance the mission, priorities and programs of the organization by enabling its most valuable capacity – its talent. The Human Resources Generalist must be able to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. This position requires excellent writing skills, attention to detail, exceptional communication, and organizational and time management skills.

  • Develops and manages new hire orientation and onboarding experience across the organization.
  • Develops learning initiatives to facilitate employee development opportunities to ensure staff is prepared with skills and core competencies.
  • Provides performance management guidance to managers, directors and vice presidents including coaching, counseling, career development, succession planning.
  • Diagnoses, assesses, and resolves critical and complex employee relations issues.
  • Analyzes HR trends and metrics in partnership with leadership to develop solutions, programs and policies to help the organization meet its goals.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and participates in team development for the organization.
  • Tracks and reports on key recruitment, retention, and departure metrics for the organization.
  • Assesses internal and market compensation data to determine appropriate compensation metrics in conjunction with finance and administration team.
  • Supports engagement and morale initiatives along with the administration team.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of special projects including employee events.
  • Enters and verifies data within payroll provider website to build and maintain employee and position records. Ensures monitoring of PTO in Prepares bi-weekly payroll and allocation of personnel expenses (salaried and hourly pay groups)
  • Prepares backup documentation (pay stubs, time sheets) required for submission with reimbursement grant invoices.
  • Drafts and updates database of employee job descriptions.
  • Reviews policies, procedures, and practices to maintain compliance and procedures for all areas of the human resources function including staffing, compensation, benefits, training performance management, employee relations, safety and compliance.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the maintenance of personnel records and HRIS.
  • Facilitates invoice processing of all HR-related services (Anthem, Guardian, FlexToday, Safe Hiring Solutions, etc.) with the accounting department.
  • Extracts data from Employee Navigator using automated reporting applications, determine the need for corrections and makes changes as necessary.
  • Assists with writing internal communications related to benefits and employee events.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion


  • BA in Human Resources or equivalent work experience and education
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification
  • 3+ years of Human Resources management resolving complex employee relations
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
  • Experience with non-profit organizations helpful
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also thrive as a team member within the finance and administration team
  • Must possess cultural awareness, strong relationship management skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent project management skills with a demonstrated track record of success in project management, accounting tasks, and general operations preferred
