The Associate Transportation Service Specialist is responsible for constructing and dispatching all driver assignments out of the Northeastern region in a manner that ensures cost effective transportation that meet company objectives.
Responsibilities include working with the Area Planner and Area Supervisor developing and managing the freight assignments that sufficiently meet the service requirements of the customers as well as consistent engagement with the driving fleet to ensure these assignments are met while maintaining the company's high safety standards. This includes ongoing communications and follow-through with our established partner as well as new business partnerships that add value and strengthen our company base. The Associate Transportation Service Specialist will use computer applications to determine shipping requirements, measure fleet performance, manage shipment reliability, manage fleet DOT compliance, as well as dispatch and coordinate activities related to shipment scheduling through delivery.
This position is an early shift, starting at 4am Monday through Friday.
35% - Communicate with the drivers to ensure understanding of their job responsibilities, customer expectations, and company expectations while having a positive impact on our culture. This can be done by consistent awareness and focus on safety through conversations, safety messages, briefings and quarterly training.
25% - Ensure that all loads and drivers are assigned, scheduled and dispatched for pickup on the appropriate ship date to meet promised delivery dates and times. Providing proper communication to the necessary channels throughout the day to ensure our service goals are met. Compiling and organizing all BOLs received and ensuring all PODs entered in the system are up to date.
15% - Assist fleet drivers in ensuring DOT compliance which includes but not limited to: HOS requirements, ensuring drivers have proper paperwork, monitoring any unassigned driving events, and keeping up to date on flagged equipment and safety inspections. Provide training on fleet systems and tools when required.
15% - Actively engage with the Area Supervisor in a positive manner to implement, support, monitor, and achieve metrics and goals. Assist in managing the driver pay package and performance incentive program. Identify and implement process improvements that increase operating efficiency, improves customer service, drives the right behavior and delivers targeted results.
10% - Provide support in the absence of the Area Supervisor. Cover other relevant duties assigned by management.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite
+ Knowledge of planning and inventory management systems, such as forecasting, process control, and inventory reporting
+ Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and software, i.e. Carrier Point, Fleet Manager, and TelematicsAdvanced verbal and written communication skills

+ Required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

+ 2+ years of professional work experiences is required
+ High school diploma or GED required
+ BA/BS Degree in Logistics, Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering is preferred
+ 2+ years of Transportation/Logistics Experience is preferred
+ Travel Requirements: 5-10%
