Children's Hospital Washington, DC (Onsite) Part-Time

Description: All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children's National Policies and Procedures, and
in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and
accountable for their own practice. Children's National supports the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically those
relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large. A RN II is an independent practitioner who performs patient care activities for a variety of patients in a service area. Respond effectively to common patient care issues. Work collaboratively with all members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care. Continue to expand clinical base of nursing knowledge and skills.Qualification: Minimum Education
BSN (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year At least 1 1/2 years RN experience (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
CPR Certification (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Professional Practice/Research

  • Participate in Shared Leadership.
  • Contribute to CNMC’s Magnet Journey .
  • Ensure that nursing practice is based on evidence of best practice.
  • Accountable for participating in the Division of Nursing’s Performance Improvement process (division or unit level).
  • Participate in community activities.
Assessment and Planning
  • Gather physical and psychosocial data on patient/family.
  • Based on assessment, contribute to and develop individualized plan of care with patient and family.
  • Identify ways to improve operations through quality improvement and assist in implementation of solutions across acute care units.
Plan of Care
  • Complete appropriate documentation.
  • Organize and complete patient assignment in a timely manner seeking assistance as needed
  • Delegate appropriately and effectively; make appropriate decisions and use sound judgment based on national nursing standards and Practice Act.
  • Identify and document the patient and family’s physical and emotional responses to care delivered.
  • Accountable to establish, implement, communicate and evaluate the interdisciplinary plan of care with outcomes.
  • Utilize assessment data gathered from patient and family to ensure completion of data base and plan of care within identified timeframes.
Patient/Family Advocacy
  • Identify learning needs and contribute to teaching of patient/family based on plan of care.
  • Seek assistance to meet patient’s educational needs.
  • Accountable to deliver patient care and service in a manner that is sensitive to diversity.
  • Communication reflects development of plan of care and ability to advocate to meet patients’ needs.
Safety
  • Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance
  • Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
  • Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation
  • Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication
