Job Description

The Director Human Resources, Shared Services serves as the primary contact for Follett Executives and their respective business functions. This position is responsible for bringing to the businesses which they serve all of the capabilities that are available from the Human Resources organization including; communications, training, organizational development, staffing, associate relations, and total rewards.  This position will align Human Resources functions with the business requirements and provide organizational consulting on key people strategies in support of the business segment objectives.  This position facilitates the definition and communication of the organizational culture, vision and values which guide the decisions and actions of the managers and employees of the organization.

1.     Partner in Shared Services to lead and implement Human Resources initiatives.

2.     Direct, lead, and evaluate the strategic and tactical execution of Human Resources functions including staffing, retention, succession planning, training, compliance, safety, associate relations, total rewards and associate communications within their business unit assignments.

3.     Manage their function by overseeing the delivery of HR metrics and measures, vendor management, operational initiatives and communications, and associate programs.

4.     Advise leadership on associate issues and ensure adherence to company policy as well as the fair and equitable administration of company practices.

5.     Support the design and lead the execution of companywide policies and programs for the effective development of people resources within the organization.

6.     Manage recruiting, hiring, training, recognition, and ongoing development for a team of HR professionals.

7.     Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, interviewing, disciplinary actions and initiates salary actions for their team.

8.     Oversee compliance of all legal requirements and government reporting regulations related to the employment of associates including OSHA, EEO, ERISA, FLSA guidelines, Harassment and Discrimination, and other applicable federal and state requirements.

9.     Ensure that the company's management philosophy and practices are aligned with Follett's core values to create an environment that embraces diversity and fosters a culture of inclusion.

10.  Lead, manage, and facilitate organizational change through demonstrated and extensive working knowledge of the organization's change management process.

11.  Enhance workforce performance and achieve organizational business results by providing disciplined focus on Human Resources scorecard metrics and measures.

12.  Lead all succession planning for the businesses by linking performance, competency, and work experience to identify career path opportunities to maximize associate retention.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HRD, HRM or Business Administration.  Master's Degree in HR Management or OD/MBA preferred.
  • At least 8 years in an HR management role.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into sound HR practices.
  • 10-25% travel.
