Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer


Provide technical expertise in standard labor analysis and lean manufacturing.

Provide support in the evaluation and implementation strike zone workstation layouts.

Maintain, roll-up and report BU road maps for labor gap monthly.

The BU IE/Lean Manufacturing Engineer will maintain key performance measurements to monitor and exceed department goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mentor plant IEs.
  • Provide technical support in development, evaluation, implementation and improvement of best business practices as it relates to material flow.
  • Analysis of future program material flow from dock to point of use.
  • Provide technical support and assist plant IE’ s in completing IE documentation for current programs including process book re-balancing, layouts, material labor requirements and re-balancing.
  • Provide technical support and evaluate and implement best business practices as it applies to value add and non-value add
  • Conduct CI workshops to audit, train, and communicate to plant teams on strike zone work station layouts
  • Provide training and technical assistance in the role out of changes to the material flow best business practices.
  • Provide Technical support and leadership with indirect labor motion based time standards.
  • Maintenance of a central database for plant layouts, process books, material handling labor tool, and other lean manufacturing documentation
  • Provide technical support and assist with labor roadmaps to decrease gap to labor goal
  • Support plant roadmap development in assigned business unit
  • Maintain and report BU roll-up roadmaps monthly
  • Provide technical support and data to the Design for Assembly team
  • Support key initiatives and core projects as required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Industrial preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of industry experience desired – automotive interiors experience desired
  • Working experience in a manufacturing assembly facility – JIT manufacturing experience desired
  • MODapts certification required – training certification is desired
  • Strong computer skills required (MS Office, AutoCad, etc.)
  • Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills – ability to work in a matrix organization and effectively lead without direct positional authority is required
  • Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork (verbal and documentation) skills – ability to write clear and concise technical documentation is required
  • Flexible work & Extensive travel and plant visits is required

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Industrial preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of industry experience desired
