HEY! We are looking for Operating Room RN's for this fabulous role with a specialty clinic in SD!
Responsible for the successful management and operation of Surgical Center, including maintenance of IMQ accreditation/certification. Provide physicians with all of the resources and services necessary to meet the needs of patients. Provides safe, quality patient care in the Peri-Operative area (Preop, Recovery or OR). Accountable for the assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
Pre-Operative: o Check key details (schedule with patient name, Surgeon, Anesthetist, surgical intervention) to ensure proper patient identification and intra-operative plan of action. o Ensure OR/Procedure room is clean, complete, and safe and that drugs have been requested as required by Anesthetist or Physician. o Direct/Assist Scrub Assistant to prepare according to established procedure and Surgeon's preference card. Document the counted sponges/needles/etc. with the Scrub assistant. o Greet patient in Pre-Op holding area to identify and perform physical/psychological assessments. o Accompany patient to O.R./Procedure Room and assist in transfer to operative room table. o Remain at patient's side during induction and until patient fully anesthetized, positioned safely, and fastened securely to table. (safety belt, monitor electrodes, oxygen flow alarm set, etc.)
Intra-Operative: o Anticipate needs and provide requested supplies/equipment to surgical team. o Coordinate all O.R./Procedure Room activities to provide safe, effective, and timely intervention. o Provides for both physiological and psychological needs of the patient. Maintain therapeutic environment and is alert for any break in technique that may contaminate the operative field. Maintains aseptic technique at all times as dictated by accepted standards. o Responsible for specimen handling - accurate and complete identification on labels/tickets, placement in containers/solutions - and dispatch to lab per established procedures. o For medico-legal indices, maintain accurate records of patient-oriented data during the surgical procedure (ie. vital signs) o Assist with dressing.
* Post-Operative: o Provide as needed assistance in patient care, assist Anesthesiologist as required with suctioning, extubation; transfer to post-op gurney or wheelchair as needed. o Provide patient condition report to Recovery Room nurse. o Complete documentation and distribute to designated area for patient care evaluation. o Place all specimens for dispatch and enter in specimen log to ensure identification and appropriate delivery. o Direct/Assist with between case clean up, inspect the room, prepare for next case as assigned or, if last case of day, direct and perform all terminal cleaning activities. Terminal activities include, but are not limited to, turning off oxygen and ensuring that sufficient sterile packs are prepared for the following day.
Other Duties as assigned, for example, but not limited to: o Assisting with emergency procedure as required. o Inventory of supplies and equipment. o Awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damage or harm to personnel or patients. o Assist in the clinic in all phases of patient care, ordering of supplies and drugs. o Perform pre op and post op exams as requested.
-Looking for a seasoned and competent RN with experience in an Operating Room
•Ability to circulate and recover a patient
•Cosmetic/ Dermatology experience is a plus
•Experience managing is a plus
