Sr. Data Warehouse Architect
POSITION PURPOSE:
As a member of the Data Engineering team, responsible for architecting and solutioning high quality data pipelines for CHPW’s Enterprise Data Hub Platform and other data repositories.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Applies approved Data warehouse architecture and design practices to translate business requirements into functional requirements and mapping design documents to build data pipelines moving data and metadata into Enterprise Data Warehouse and other Integrated managed data repositories.
Perform Snowflake data modeling, with hands on experience in implementing data frameworks including ingestion, transformation, data quality checks, master data management, monitoring, alerts, notifications etc.
Collaborate with vendors, data providers and business stake holders on new data acquisitions to ingest data by defining formats, filling data gaps, adjusting source-system data structures to facilitate integration with other organizational data.
Oversee Data analysts and Product managers responsible to write and maintain documentation of the ETL processes via process flow diagrams, data profiling and source to target mappings adhering to best practices.
Educates end users of the warehouse by providing data warehouse design/schema information via educational sessions, in-person discussions, or instructional documents.
Promotes the use of the warehouse by working with data stewards, data analysts, business solution analysts, and governance analysts to help end users understands data definitions, lineage, storage locations and access.
Participates in data governance activities and ensure data security working closely with Database Administrators, Information security and Infrastructure teams.
Leads and/or participates in design and code reviews.
Provides application and operational support, fulfills assigned On-call duties.
Provides mentorship, coaching and technical leadership to less experienced team members.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Prior Related Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experiences required.
Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience with dimensional data warehouse design for healthcare data, preferably with managed care organizations (MCOs) or/and commercial payers.
Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience years with database modeling, data pipeline development and cloud data warehouse development, preferably within healthcare data domain.
Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with Master Data Management and relevant experience with Data Fabric and/or Data Mesh architectures.
Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with metadata and data governance practices.
Employment Eligibility:
Candidate has not been sanctioned or excluded from participation in federal or state healthcare programs by a federal or state law enforcement, regulatory, or licensing agency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of relational database concepts, dimensional data warehouse models, data warehousing methodologies, and major database management systems such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Azure SQL, AWS Redshift, GCP, Oracle, etc.
In-depth understanding of enterprise data management concepts (Data Governance, Data Engineering, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Sharing, Data Science and Data Applications)
Ability to architect solutions for data ingest processes and pipelines using ETLWorks, SSIS, Qlik Compose, or other data integration tools such as Snowpipe, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue and StreamSets
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization including senior level staff, external vendors, and external clinic staff
Ability to create process documentation to include process flow charts, data modeling diagrams, architecture roadmaps and integrated solutions
Strong knowledge of different data architecture frameworks within both cloud and on-prem platforms
In depth working knowledge of cloud computing, preferably with Snowflake and Azure
Good understanding of business operations, organization process workflows, and business priorities
Experience in the use of agile or iterative-type software development lifecycles and techniques.
Ability to organize tasks, timelines, and delivery schedules.
Managed care health plan and/or health care industry experience preferred.
