Job Description

Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for generation and revision of detailed mechanical design drawings of custom highly sophisticated and technologically advanced Industrial x-ray inspection systems.

Job Description:

Work closely with the Mechanical and System Engineering teams both in CT and NY for the design of electromechanical and/or material handling systems.
Create, modify and finalize detailed mechanical designs; from Top assembly-level through to assembly and fabrication level drawings
Transform concept designs into detailed final documents using Solidworks
Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications, internal guidelines, quality standards, and national codes and standards.
Produce and/or validate design calculations to verify design
Generate, revise, and finalize BOMs
Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to generate and edit 2D and 3D designs using Solid Works
Work with Production, Design & Installation teams to revise drawings and generate a final as-built package
Provide support to Technical Writing and Project management Teams in the creation of technical documentation, system manuals, and customer-facing documentation.
Travel to customer sites as required in support of technical discussions, kick-off meetings, oversee installations, or troubleshooting.
Initial one week to one-month cumulative familiarization, training, and hands-on work at the NY facility.

Essential Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
4 plus years of experience designing electro-mechanical and/or mechanical systems using Solid Works for mechanical design.
Previous experience generating fabrication level detail designs for electromechanical components
Familiarity with motion control products and standard motor/gearbox components
Working knowledge of pneumatics
Ability to work to schedules under time constraints in a dynamic environment
Proactive, team player with established verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working with and generating BOMs within an MRP or ERP system.
Prior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar) Industrial Systems Mechanical CAD Designer
Experience writing design specifications
Familiarity with motion control products and standard motor/gearbox components
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident who is legally authorized to work in the US and able to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
