System One has immediate openings for Tooling Engineers to provide Decommissioning Support in Lynchburg, VA. This is an 8-month contract with occasional travel throughout the contract length.

The project will require integrating different robotic/remotely operated platforms into a system that will perform various decommissioning tasks in a hostile environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Integration of commercially available remotely controlled industrial-duty vehicles with multi axis robotic arms
  • Designing robotic arm end effectors that can cut, drill, collect debris samples, etc.
  • Overseeing the procurement and fabrication associated with the system
  • Designing the necessary mockups to test system performance, and overseeing the fabrication of said mockups
  • Preparing and executing testing procedures
  • Preparing system operating instructions
  • Assisting in system operator training

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD and SmarTeam PLM
  • A strong background in robotic system design and/or integration
  • Proficient in tooling or machinery design
  • Experience specifying mechanical and electro-mechanical subcomponents
  • Machining and welding experience
  • Strong hands-on work skills for equipment/tooling assembly, checkout, testing, refurb/repair, and on-site troubleshooting
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and drive it to a successful completion within schedule and budget constraints
  • Must be able to effectively communicate within the project team and interact well with our customer
  • Must be able to obtain unescorted commercial nuclear facility site access, which means a clear criminal history and passing controlled substance drug/alcohol testing
