Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent the Maintenance Technician is responsible for, but not limited to providing a high level of customer service to manufacturing, engineering, and other plant and office functions. Equipment maintenance including installation, repairs/maintenance of machinery, equipment, tooling changes, physical structures and electrical systems of the Springhill facility with an emphasis on preventative and predictive maintenance. Successful candidate must have a strong knowledge of PLC controls and can apply this knowledge without hesitation.
Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions while adhering to all Safety Rules at SHSS. Follows and promotes all Plant Standards, policies, procedures and ensures compliance to the SHSS employee handbook. Responsible to ensure compliance to the correct and safe way to operate and repair equipment, follows all instructions and complies with Company standards on the use of personal protective equipment, lock-outs and hot work permits. Responsibilities include recognizing and rectifying all unsafe working conditions, while maintaining excellent housekeeping and 5S principals and standards at SHSS. Ensure that all maintenance departmental objectives and activities participated in at SHSS are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution. Perform mechanical predictive & preventive maintenance work. Plan and repair work on machines, tooling and fixtures to ensure daily assembly production targets are obtained. Perform electrical predictive & preventive maintenance work and complete assigned work orders on timely basis. Responsibilities include maintaining and optimizing shop floor control systems including the manufacturing Execution System (MES). The successful candidate will provides technical support to problem solving activities while interfacing with all other facility employees. Work in conjunction with other employees to complete assigned tasks involved in Continuous Improvement activities supporting all other departments. Support new program development and participate in the selection of equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives by constantly looking for ways of improving equipment reliability, cycle time and technical standardization. Ability to learn new processes and keep up-to-date with new technologies within the field and able to take training as required. May suggest design changes and/or modifications of tools for improved usage. Perform tool changes & tryout for tooling improvements. Provide process information, automated equipment utilization and assist management team in achieving goals and objectives of the SHSS facility. Perform special projects in support of the organizations business objectives. Other projects and duties as assigned HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: *Ensure all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed. *Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards. *Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues. *Taking appropriate corrective action when substandard performance is observed.
Knowledge and Education
Industrial Millwright/Mechanic trade certification or Industrial Electrician trade certification preferred, but not required, knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance operations and related processes with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in an automotive (JIT) Tier 1 manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of both. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication skills, organizational skills with the ability to multi task.
