Provides direct patient care to Adult and geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the cardiac/surgical environment. Communicates with the physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac patient are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the Cardiac Stress Lab. Provides follow-up.
Responsible for patients undergoing Stress Testing, CTA's ,TEE's, and Cardioversions.
Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high risk procedures.
Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
Demonstrates the ability to assess cardiorespiratory systems for changes in Adolescent to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriately
Carries out established techniques for safe administration of medications, contrast and parenteral fluids as per facility policies and procedures
Documents patient data during the procedure (heart rate, blood pressure, respirations, all pressures, O2 saturation, EKG). Maintains procedure records
Appropriately responds to a patient in an emergency or physically distressed situation.
Assessment and reassessment of the patient is clearly and concisely communicated on charting. Documentation meets current standards, policies and procedures.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with coworkers for the patient's benefit
Counts narcotics at beginning and end of each shift with another RN per facility policy and procedure
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of instrument processing, sterilization and biological monitoring.

Keep customers and co-workers informed on a regular basis
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time
Responsible for daily check of emergency crash cart and defibrillator.
Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion
Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program.
Licensure: Current Arkansas RN license
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EKG, Dysrhythmia Interpretaiton
Preferred Education: ADN, BSN
Preferred Licensure: RN
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years Cardiac Experience
