Director, Marketing and Communications (REMOTE)

The Forte Foundation Work from Home/Remote Full-Time
Position Description

In concert with Fort's strategic plan, our immediate focus is on growing brand awareness and engagement with women across undergraduate (college), pre-MBA, MBA, and professional audiences. The Director of Marketing will report to the VP of Marketing and Enrollment Management and work closely with the entire Fort marketing team to support our growth and enrollment strategy by leading our Digital Branding, Editorial, and Public Relations efforts.

Digital Branding and Marketing:
  • Generate upper funnel growth through the development and execution of digital marketing strategies and plans, including (but not limited to): SEO, Google Ads, paid and organic social media campaigns, outbound social media advertising, and influencer engagement. Track results of these plans and recommend additional advertising outlets and other follow up activities.
  • Serve as the brand manager for all online and print materials by managing a cohesive look and feel across all Fort programs and initiatives; enforce Fort brand and style guides.
  • Brand and marketing ownership of all Fort websites. Works closely with the technology team to implement technical requests and recommendations.
  • In partnership with the marketing coordinator, oversee the strategy and management of Fort's online merchandise store.

Content Creation and Management:
  • In partnership with the Program and Marketing teams, develop an editorial plan across all audience segments to be disseminated through all Fort channels, including Fort websites, social media, and newsletters.
  • Manage the content creation process, with a focus on channel strategy, distribution strategy, and demand generation.
  • Create and execute an internal influencer strategy in line with Fort's brand voice and mission.
  • Recruit and manage relationships with freelance writers and designers, podcast producers, and video producers.

  • Manage agency relationships, working together to position Fort as a thought leader in all issues facing women in business and identifying opportunities for Fort to increase SOV.
  • Create press releases and other public-facing communications.
  • Identify opportunities for media coverage, interviews, speaking engagements, and podcast appearances
  • Maintain Fort's press page.
  • In partnership with the Programs and Development teams, develop content for school and partner facing communications.

  • Measure and report on channel performance against goals (ROI and KPIs).
  • Identify trends and insights; optimize spend and performance based on the insights.
  • Evaluate and present data from campaigns to key stakeholders (as appropriate).
  • Apply learnings from campaign debrief reports to future marketing campaigns.

Required Education / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of marketing experience, preferably at a university or other educational organization.
  • Experience with a CMS (WordPress, Luminate) and email marketing program (Emma, Constant Contact, etc.); knowledge of HTML highly desired.
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency required.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Job Environment:

Employees of Fort work independently from home offices. Each employee should have the capacity within their home to set up a work environment or office. Fort provides a computer, phone, office supplies, and covers the cost of internet service for each employee.
