Role Description
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer that will support the scale-up of our in-house sub-scale battery cell build capability. This role will focus on designing and implementing new manufacturing cells, improving or redesigning existing build and test processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and our facilities team to enable a lean build workflow for our sub-scale prototypes. They will use insights from the shop floor to inform better product designs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on shop-floor experience and will be highly motivated to improve our current processes and designs. They exhibit a desire to teach and have strong communication skills both within the team and with external vendors.

What You'll Do:

    • Own the design, build and implementation of custom assembly cells for our battery cells and supporting processes
    • Continuously Improve existing workflows and processes by eliminating waste and smart automation
    • Define, measure and track quality and process capability
    • Train others in new and improved processes and lead or participate in kaizen events
    • You are one of the main interfaces between technical operations and the development teams to standardize new designs that go into prototype production
    • Train others in new and improved processes and lead or participate improvement events


What You'll Bring:

    • Degree in engineering or similar field
    • 3+ years of experience in industry
    • Passion about lean, creating stable work and eliminating waste from all processes
    • Highly skilled with mechanical CAD design of custom jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing cells
    • Experience with plastics and adhesives in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with infrastructure for small volume manufacturing cells and lines.
