Job Description  

SGS Alaska Division has been the leading full-service environmental laboratory in Alaska for over 50 years.  We understand the importance of employing qualified, enthusiastic, resourceful people.  Our Alaska operation supports a 60-person staff.  SGS Anchorage is a full service, ISO accredited laboratory analyzing a variety of matrices for environmental pollutants.  Our clients are those that report to government regulatory agencies and private individuals.

We have a position for a full-time, permanent Accounting Clerk to support our administrative needs.  This position will utilize your accounting and administrative skills and is key to the success of the business.

Responsibilities

You will receive comprehensive onboarding training to gain an understanding of SGS’s business objectives and what is involved in the position itself.  You will learn how to process Account Receivable and ensure Account Payables are current in our accounting system, Oracle BOSS.  You will learn how to communicate effectively and routinely with our clients and internal management regarding late invoices or any delinquencies.  You will also ensure that procurement is carried out in an efficient and cost-effective manner.  Communication will be key to success in this role along with exceptional follow up and attention to detail.


Qualifications  

We would strongly encourage you to apply if you possess the following qualifications:

  • You have a 2-4 year degree in Accounting or a related field.  Applicable work experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • You have some accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable clerk.
  • You are familiar with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.  Experience with spreadsheets and financial reports is important for this role.
  • You have exceptional organizational skills and can perform filing and record keeping tasks.
  • If you have experience with Oracle BOSS, it will be a plus.
  • You have proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
