Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Lead Technical Writer to join our team. This is a fully remote position that will work as part of the team based at our Moon Township, PA location. Position Overview: The Lead Technical Writer to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the Electrical and Industrial Sector. The ideal candidate has a strong command of clean, concise language and experience working in an iterative process. Exposure to enterprise software, the Internet of Things (IoT), and writing for APIs is a big plus. Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. In this role you will: Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation Develop and test copy for mobile and desktop applications Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content Manage updates and revisions to technical literature Work closely with human-centered designers, engineers, and business professionals to guide products from inception through delivery When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 6 years working as a Technical Writer Writing samples from prior projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe desktop publishing applications Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for software engineering audiences Experience and exposure to software development portals and API documentation Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking Experience mentoring and directing the work of other technical writers Preferred qualifications: 8 or more years of experience working as a working as a Technical Writer A proven track record of establishing technical writing process, procedures, and culture from scratch. A strategic, team-building mindset Position Criteria: Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside the CCIS team. Support co-workers Strong interpersonal skills The ability to grasp complex and diverse customer needs and distill them into clean, understandable copy.
