Who We Are:

Providing design, development, and analysis on components, engines, powertrains, and vehicles, we also support research and modeling for combustion, emissions, and powertrain energy management. We are pioneers in powertrain development for commercial vehicles and off-road machines.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Develop commercial vehicle transportation solutions that reduce carbon and harmful pollutant emissions
  • Be a part of the team that pushes the boundaries of internal combustion engines by developing alternative fuel and hybrid powertrain solutions
  • Feed your passion for seeing your ideas come to life by working amongst dozens of world class test cells to research and develop solutions to industry challenges
  • Interface directly with the worlds leading transportation companies including engine and vehicle OEM's and major component suppliers

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Work daily with a team of experienced research engineers and project managers to assist in engine, electric component and emissions experiments, data acquisition, and analysis of results
  • Create reports (both Powerpoint and Word) summarizing assigned tasks and data collected
  • Operate engine and powertrain test cells with multiple data acquisition systems
  • Develop deep understanding of proper measurement equipment selection, instrumentation of engines, electric components and aftertreatment, and calibration of transducers and support systems
  • Work daily with the laboratory technical staff for support of test stands
  • Be the interface to relay senior engineer requirements to the proper support staff; this can include general mechanical work, electronic support, and machining assistance
  • Solve complex physics and thermodynamics problems by developing software solutions for data management and interpretation of test results. Use Python, Matlab, Simulink and 1D and 3D simulation tools to augment research and efficiently develop powertrain solutions
  • Use hands-on experience to troubleshoot engine, powertrain and test cell controls and mechanical malfunctions
  • Support fully automated powertrain test cells and utilize continuous improvement techniques to reduce downtime and increase test result fidelity

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related engineering degree
  • 0-5 years: Must have skills in some type of engineering software such as Labview, Matlab, Simulink, Python, or others
  • Experience in engine rebuilding, engine electronics, and/or engine control systems are preferred
  • Experience or interest with diesel engines, vehicles or electric motors and machines
  • Have strong interest in areas such as transportation, future automotive technology, and engines/powertrains, as demonstrated through course selection, student projects, or activities outside of school that required technical study and applications within the automotive field
  • Skills in the full suite of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required
