Our client a billion dollar publicly traded defense and transportation company is seeking their Sr. Manager Revenue Recognition Technical Accounting. The Sr. Manager Revenue Recognition Technical Accounting manages and directs decision making, reviews, analysis, recommendations, process improvement, and policy implementation over revenue recognition, complex technical accounting matters, and SEC financial reporting. This position provides leadership to the Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting department and will work closely with the company's operating segment financial management and senior corporate financial management. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority with potential significant impact to the organization. This position reports to the Corporate Senior Director of Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting Responsibilities ? Manage the Company?s revenue recognition department, including creating policies and procedures to ensure treatment in accordance with US GAAP. ? Perform significant financial reporting responsibilities as part of the Company?s quarterly and annual SEC reporting process, including drafting footnotes, MD A, and other relevant regulatory filings. ? Implement and monitor procedures to maintain a high-level of documentation standards, including documenting complex revenue recognition or other technical accounting matters in technical white papers. ? Provide leadership and guidance to the Senior and Supervisors in the Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting department. ? Interact and advise senior management by serving as a subject matter expert on complex accounting issues including revenue recognition and other transactions with potential significant impact to the organization. ? Work with subsidiary financial management to make operating segment revenue recognition decisions and improve financial reporting and accounting processes. ? Design and implement improvements in processes and documentation regarding revenue recognition and other related matters. ? Prepare analysis regarding revenue and cost of sales recognition issues. ? Participate during operating segment bid and proposal teams to identify potential accounting considerations and remediation alternatives. ? Perform on-site education regarding revenue recognition issues to cost accountants, contract administrators, and program management. ? Perform occasional site-visits to international and domestic locations in researching accounting for new contracts, emerging product lines, acquired businesses, and reviewing ongoing revenue accounting on long-term contracts. ? Supervise and lead revenue recognition analyses and other areas of responsibility necessary for the audit of financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting. ? Advise senior management and provides financial analysis of possible acquisitions, divestitures, major capital expenditures or other specific projects, as required.

Job Requirements

Requirements ? Four-year college degree in accounting required, graduate level degree preferred, plus a minimum of eight years of experience in public accounting (or similar) experience. ? In-depth knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, SEC and financial reporting requirements. ? Strong communication skills and in depth experience with US GAAP are essential for this role. ? CPA certification is required. ? Significant experience with revenue recognition accounting preferred. ? Ability to interface with all levels of professionals, management, internal and external auditors. ? Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on maintaining excellent and accessible documentation. ? Exude a can-do attitude and possess a strong dedication to providing quality service. ? Willingness to travel up to 4 weeks per year ? A limited amount of international and domestic travel is expected for this position (estimated at 0-4 weeks per year).
