Remote HCC Auditing Specialist

Auditor will be responsible for performing QA on a specific project or for a particular client. QA will be performed randomly but with a certain percentage assigned to projects. QA projects may also be assigned to the QA Auditor as needed and random QA may be required.

  • Provide education based on the results of QA
  • Give coders' an on-going education for any identified missed/incorrect ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes or incorrect/missing/inappropriate client based notes
  • Review weekly QA Education Forms and send to coders
  • Ensure coder sign and return education forms
  • Solidify communication between coders and managers in QA experience by including managers in all email correspondences
  • Complete and document Corrective Action Plans for all coders who fail their 2nd consecutive QA or more
  • Informing coders of their CAP and consequences for failure of reaching QA 3+ times
  • Report specific coding findings found on coder QA reviews into the organization's weekly coding round table discussions with the coders as well as the coding division's newsletter
  • Any other tasks required by management
  • AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC)
  • 2 years coding experience
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD -9/10
  • Familiar with HCC coding
  • A strong knowledge base of medical terminology, medical abbreviations, pharmacology and disease processes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment while maintaining high quality
  • Must be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to be flexible in work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a remote environment and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the business use of computer hardware and software to ensure effectiveness and quality of the processing and security of the data
  • Must be able to commit to the following, PT a minimum of 20 hours, FT minimum of 40 hours weekly
  • Ability to be able work on multiple client projects
