Position Summary

Sinomax, a global leader in memory foam manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Manager to ensure timely and complete shipments from our Nashville facility. This role involves mentoring and developing our team members while creating and implementing effective processes and procedures to enhance our operations. This position demands a solid understanding of SAP, with candidates expected to have practical, firsthand experience using the software to manage data and enhance operational workflows.



Essential Functions

Department Leadership:
Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of the shipping department, ensuring an organized, safe, and sanitary work environment in compliance with Sinomax policies, OSHA, and government regulations. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Load Coordination:
Manage the load-out schedule with in-house distribution and external contractors to ensure the timely and accurate dispatch and receipt of all Sinomax products.

Inventory Management:
Ensure all transactions are recorded promptly and accurately, maintaining correct inventory levels at all times, including shipments, donations, product loss, and damage.

Performance Monitoring:
Oversee and manage all aspects of employee performance, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards, particularly in maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.

Managerial Duties:
Engage in typical managerial responsibilities, including planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating tasks effectively within the Sinomax framework.

Employee Management:
Directly or through supervisors, manage employees to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary actions, and performance management. Participate in negotiations, grievances, or other contract-related activities as necessary.

Process Improvement:
Develop and implement streamlined procedures for the shipping process to ensure on-time and complete delivery of Sinomax products.

Performance Metrics:
Create metrics to monitor progress and success in line with Sinomax’s goals.

Training:
Obtain certification as a forklift trainer and ensure all drivers are certified and compliant with safety standards.

Data Management:
Ensure data accuracy in SAP to support operational efficiency at Sinomax.

Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by management.



Work Experience and Qualifications

Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to foster collaboration within the Sinomax team.

Regulatory Knowledge:
Understanding of and ability to adhere to applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.

Experience:
Previous experience managing a shipping department in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the home goods or textile industry.

Work Ethic:
Strong work ethic and attention to detail, embodying the Sinomax commitment to quality.

Certifications:
Lean certification is a plus; SAP experience is required.

Team Management:
Ability to select, coach, develop, engage, and retain a dedicated team of employees aligned with Sinomax values.

Experience Requirement:
A minimum of 3 years of related experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience.

Adaptability:
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and to lead others through change effectively.

Multitasking:
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with strong organizational and prioritization skills.



Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Activity:
Must stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer during overtime situations.

Work Conditions:
Work is performed in a sometimes hot, cold, humid, noisy industrial environment and around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substances.
