Overview: Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Director for its Policy and Research team. This position will be focused on development of materials to support advocacy in policy areas related to creating a favorable environment for innovation as well as project management and lead coordination of unit activities related to key priorities. This position will work closely with colleagues in Federal Affairs, Advocacy and Strategic Alliances, Public Affairs, Scientific and Regulatory Advocacy and Law departments on assigned issue areas, including responding to media, congressional, member company, and departmental requests and interacting with external partners. Responsibilities/Qualifications: ResponsibilitiesDevelop compelling advocacy materials focused on demonstrating the impact of Medicare price setting in the Inflation Reduction Act, explaining the biomedical research ecosystem and demonstrating the value of medical biopharmaceutical advances to patients, and society. Draft, edit and update backgrounders, presentations, and talking points. Collaborate with colleagues in communications on media statements, infographics, blog posts and social media posts.Manage multiple research projects related to development of medicines, the impact of laws and regulations, intellectual property protection, and competition. Manage and track project milestones and completion to support priorities, and act as liaison to other departments as appropriate.Assess legislative proposals and agency regulation and guidance to assess implications for industry; collaborate with staff across departments on rapid response of high profile legislative or regulatory proposals Support department efforts to produce clear, concise, high impact PowerPoint presentations from drafting through editing and formatting. Proactively monitor key data trends, as well as research, policy, legal, and regulatory developments that impact the industry's ability to innovate.Perform other duties as assigned.Key Success Factors PhRMA seeks a proactive self-starter who is passionate about the biopharmaceutical industry, access to medicines, a champion for innovation in medicines and who has a strong desire to learn, grow and contribute to the health policy challenges we face today.
