Job Description

Research Scientist I- Discovery Biology in Buffalo, NY

AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Research Scientist I is an integral part of the AMRI team, contributing to our success by providing technical support to research teams working in drug discovery using cellular and biochemical assays.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the development of reagents through applications of molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry.
  • Assist in the development and validation of assays for bioactivity screening and their transfer to robotic systems.
  • Develop and effectively apply a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills; including molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, assay development, in depth analysis of bioactivity data and the use of automated equipment
  • Develop and effectively apply a deep understanding of the in vitro methods used to identify, characterize and prioritize potentially therapeutic compounds for in vivo efficacy studies.
  • Submit acceptable written periodic reports. Prepare summaries of experimental findings reliably and independently.
  • Job Requirements

    Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:


    • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience or related field
      • Documented laboratory experience outside of the classroom


    • Experience working under minimal supervision
    • Experience in presenting the results of their laboratory experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
