Segment Manager- Utilities

Tripp Lite Chicago, IL Full-Time

Reporting to the Vice President of Product Management, this new position will be foundational in leading the expansion efforts in the Utilities Market. The Segment Manager will be responsible for developing key relationships that align with existing and new product lines and creating go-to-market plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding, a focus on organization, and extensive market knowledge. This candidate can work effectively with both technical influencers and key decision-makers to expand Tripp Lite’s presence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Research market trends, identify and prospect accounts, pursue leads and follow through to successful engagements
  • Develop thorough understanding of the Utilities market from an electrical, IT, and IoT perspective
  • Identify and articulate customers’ needs (both spoken and unspoken) to Product Management
  • Maintain relationships with key customers and OEMs
  • Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to ensure new product requirements are met
  • Plan and oversee new marketing initiatives
  • Advise and assist sales in meeting revenue targets
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of products, positioning, and competitive landscape in the Utilities market
  • Regularly attend conferences, meetings, and industry events to stay informed on trends and deepen key relationships
  • Ability to participate in the development of codes and standards
  • Follow the latest industry developments
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the Utilities Market Segment including product offerings, market and technical trends
Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • Ten years of progressive experience with a proven track record in business development and/or consultative sales in a related market
  • Instinctive ability to  filter market data and information to focus on relevant, actionable indicators
  • Proficiency in developing relationships and research into meaningful and profitable business strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of business-to-business relationships
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Technical knowledge required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on customer requirements
  • Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to internal stakeholders and customers, in a clear and concise manner
  • Capable of flourishing with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce
  • Ability and desire to Travel between 35-50%
