Description

Job summary

Are you a Systems Engineer who is passionate about implementing automation to streamline operational processes? Does the thought of using the latest and greatest AWS services excite you? Are you a proactive identifier and solver of problems? Come join the AWS S3 Government Services Team!

This is an exciting opportunity to utilize the latest cloud computing technologies to extend S3 capabilities and features into GovCloud regions and to solve technical problems at AWS scale!

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is storage for the Internet. Through the use of pioneering techniques in distributed computing, developers are able to durably store their data on Amazons proven computing infrastructure to achieve virtually limitless storage capacity at minimal cost. Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, secure, fast, inexpensive infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.

The S3 Government Services team is responsible for maintaining and improving our customers cloud storage solutions by reacting to operational incidents while also delivering new and exciting S3 features.

Were looking for technology leaders for the largest storage service on the internet. This position is perfect for you if youre interested in designing, architecting, and implementing tools and automation so that engineers can be as hands-off as possible. We want our region operations to be as automated as possible and that can only be done by having professionals who understand how to think big, simplify solutions to complex, never before seen problems; all while ensuring that the customer continues to have the best experience possible.

We are seeking an engineering leader who is focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. This professional should have an advanced knowledge of Linux, networking, and cloud services along with experience in agile development utilizing modern scripting and/or programming languages. At Amazon we have a drive to create the best customer experience possible, with the customers being both AWS customers and the other engineers at AWS who will benefit from collaborative contributions to ongoing operations and improving our support to our service.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen. We're looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team and can be based at HQ2 in Arlington, VA, Herndon, VA, Denver, CO, or Seattle, WA.

For Arlington, VA: This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Our employees and the neighboring community will also benefit from the associated investments from the Commonwealth including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and new access to Reagan National Airport. By working together on behalf of our customers, we are building the future one innovative product, service, and idea at a time. Are you ready to embrace the challenge? Come build the future with us.
