Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cooking Instructor for elementary/middle/high school students. This role is pivotal in enriching our curriculum with practical, engaging, and comprehensive cooking education. The instructor will be instrumental in guiding students through the fundamentals of meal planning, nutrition, cooking techniques, and healthy eating choices. General Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a curriculum, tailored to the diverse needs and interests of students.
  • Conduct interactive cooking sessions, emphasizing meal planning, nutrition, and safe cooking practices.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that nurtures students' culinary interests.
  • Assess students' culinary skills and provide constructive feedback to encourage progress.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and coordinators to integrate cooking lessons with broader educational programs.
  • Monitor and document student progress, maintaining detailed records.
  • Regularly communicate with parents, guardians, and educational stakeholders about student achievements and program updates.
  • Ensure all cooking equipment and materials are properly set up, maintained, and safely stored.

Major Duties

  • Curriculum Development: Craft comprehensive lesson plans that include hands-on cooking, meal planning, and nutrition education.
  • Classroom Instruction: Lead dynamic and engaging cooking sessions, ensuring active participation from all students.
  • Student Assessment: Continuously evaluate and adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs and preferences in cooking.
  • Community Building: Establish a collaborative and respectful classroom environment, promoting healthy eating and cooking habits.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student engagement, progress, and feedback; provide regular reports as required.

  • Instructional Skills: Proven ability to develop and deliver an engaging, educational cooking curriculum suitable for school age students.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaborative skills, openness to feedback, and adaptability in teaching methods.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficient time management, task prioritization, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Content Knowledge: Extensive knowledge in cooking, including meal planning, nutrition, cooking techniques, and food safety.
