Responsible for designing and implementing information systems that will adequately support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization. Analyzes system requirements and defines system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking protocols. Ensures that architecture project roll-outs meet security standards and be effectively integrated with current applications. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
As part of a small team, support SID Infrastructure Management with knowledge and subject matter expertise in order to design, engineer, and architect implementation plans for DISA staff to implement, configure, upgrade, and secure infrastructure devices according to best practices, DISA policy and DOD IA compliance.
Knowledge and expertise includes the following:
• Operating System -
o Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Solaris, Solaris on Oracle SuperCluster and Linux. High Availability (HA) Service Guard, Oracle RAC and SQL Cluster.
• Storage -
o Enterprise Class Storage Systems (ECSS) including Storage Area Network (SAN) switch implementation and configuration, Network Attached Storage (NAS) implementation and configuration, Content Addressable Storage (CAS) implementation and configuration, DataDomain implementation and con- figuration, and Enterprise Class Storage Arrays. Also provide SME support for VERITAS Netbackup and provide technical assistance with backup configurations and troubleshooting for backup failures.
• Appliances -
o Expertise on implementation and configuration of SAP HANA and BWA according to vendor best practices, DISA policy, and DOD IA guidelines.
• Database/Application -
o Database -
§ Expertise on implementation and configuration of database recovery using Oracle Real Applica- tion Clusters (RAC), Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Oracle DataGuard for database technologies including Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and SAP HANA. In addition, the contractor shall provide SME support for database security requirements according to vendor best practices, DISA policy, and DOD IA guidelines.
o Application -
§ Expertise on the implementation, configuration, upgrades, releases, changes/transports/migrations, patching, and securing ERP applications according to vendor best practices, DISA policy, and DOD IA guidelines.
• Multi-Vendor Hyper Converged Infrastructures (HCI) -
o Architect specifications for the product applications listed below. Perform all maintenance activity coordination to include patching, firmware update, capacity increase, power and cooling, backup, and recovery on all components to include network architecture, performance/capacity/trend analysis, and high availability (failover). Comply with all security compliance requirements, to include data encryption, in accordance with vendor best practices, DISA policy, and DOD IA guidelines.
§ Oracle SuperCluster
§ SAP HANA
§ SAP KNOA
§ Business Warehouse Accelerator (BWA)
§ HP CX700
• Network - Ports, Protocols and Services Management (PPSM) -
o Work with the mission partner's application owners to implement/update PPSM information for all ports the applications require, end user access ports, and system interfaces ports. Create and process the proper PPSM registration for the network team to allow connectivity between the systems/applications through the determined ports listed in PPSM.
• IP Address -
o Work with DISA and mission partner Network teams to document required IP address space and provide IP address details including IP configuration instructions to the DISA technical teams as it relates to the production, out of band (OOB) and enterprise backup network (EBN) networks.
• Virtualization/EVT Coordination -
o Work with the DISA Enterprise Virtualization Team to provide details on switch, Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), and profile information per operating environment. Document virtual network configuration details including network VLAN and profile configuration instructions to the DISA technical teams as it relates to the production, OOB and EBN networks.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting -
o Complete performance monitoring of hardware/software components related to Central Processing Unit (CPU), Memory, and DISK Input/Output (I/O). Complete technical performance monitoring and provide documented baselines including quarterly updates with the goal of proactive notification when the environment is reaching peaks and providing documented details of performance gaps to prevent system degradations due to hardware constraints.
• Suggestion Tracking and Status -
o Perform as project leader to document and provide quarterly status on performance improvement suggestions offered by the technical teams. Develop document according to the action officer guide, and present to the mission partner's senior leaders providing technical suggestions for system improvements.
Education & Experience
10+ years' maintaining and supporting applications architectures in an enterprise environment
Appropriate DoD 8570 IAT/IAM Level certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, or higher), as well as technology-specific certifications such as MCSA Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016, Certified UNIX Security Administrator (GCUX), etc.
NIPRNet Access - Secret IT-I
Requires Final (Interim is acceptable to start) DoD Security Clearance level of Secret
Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)
Note, all positons are identified as DoD 8570 IT-1 (privileged level systems access), which requires a favorably adjudicated Tier 5 investigation (formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)).
