Salary Range: 60,000 to 75,000 USD Annually

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.

About the Role: The Managing Editor for Global Business of Law will work with a senior team of leaders on executing the content strategy for this industry-leading publication, both in print and online. The managing editor will be a driving force of our daily and longer-term coverage, ensuring The American Lawyer delivers timely news and analysis on the business of law that our readers can’t get anywhere else.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring online content gets to readers in a timely and appealing way, working with editors on timing, headlines and story ideas
• Managing the online presence of The American Lawyer, including setting and deploying newsletters and creating online packages
• Managing the print publication of The American Lawyer magazine, ensuring stellar content and on-time, high-end production value
• Leading the collection, layout and analysis efforts of our major rankings, such as the Am Law 100/200, Diversity Scorecard, and more
• Editing magazine features and daily copy, as needed
• Writing magazine and daily articles and features
• Meeting with industry sources and bringing back story ideas for the reporters
• Attending and speaking at industry conferences, serving as a thought leader in the space
• Working with our advisory boards
• Working with contributing authors and outside public relations professionals to vet and publish contributed content

• Strong editing skills, particularly on features
• Strong writing skills for both shorter and longer-term pieces

• Ability to edit and analyze industry data for market-leading rankings
• Ability to serve as public face of the brand
