Vornado’s Tax group is seeking a Senior Accountant to work in the Paramus office. The Tax Supervisor is responsible for reviewing and preparing tax returns for TRS entities, partnerships, REITs, and corporations. Additionally, the position requires the supervision and review of tax accountants responsible for preparing tax returns; reconciliation of cash distributions made to partners; review of taxable income and subsequent schedules; review of fixed assets and depreciation records; review and preparation of taxable income state allocation; preparation of tax projections; review, prepare, and coordination with transfer agent regarding non-resident partner state withholding; preparation of REIT Income and Asset Tests; and research of tax issues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and preparation of tax returns for REITs, Taxable REIT Subsidiaries and Partnerships
- Reconciliation of cash distributions made to Vornado Realty L.P. partners
- Review and preparation of taxable income estimates to be sent to investors
- Assist in preparation of 704(c) and 752 Allocation models
- Review and preparation of divisional taxable income
- Review and preparation of fixed assets and depreciation
- Review and preparation of Vornado Realty L.P. state allocations (Three Factor Apportionment)
- Review, prepare and coordinate with transfer agent regarding non-resident partner state withholding
- Prepare tax projections for Private REITs and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries
- Maintenance of tax notices log
- Research of tax issues / maintenance of tax notice log
- Preparation of REIT Income and Asset Tests
Job Qualifications:
- Must be well-informed regarding REIT compliance and tax law
- Must maintain awareness of latest tax law changes
Education/Experience:
- 3-5 years of Commercial Real Estate Tax experience – Public experience a plus
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting
- Must be familiar with REIT compliance procedures
