Licensing Administrator

​The Licensing Administrator has contact with other company departments, peers and managers, state regulatory officials, and other outside organizations in order to renew current regulatory licenses and obtain new licenses as required by General Motors Financial Company, Inc. and its subsidiaries (GM Financial). This employee may also provide technical legal and regulatory research as it pertains to obtaining various state licenses required to conduct core business and new business as determined by GM Financial.


  • Process, distribute, and track licenses held by GM Financial by scanning into SharePoint, forwarding new/renewed licenses to branch locations, and requesting the return of all old licenses Update Archer database with critical dates affecting licenses and licensing deadlines
  • Maintain licensing postings as needed at Fort Worth offices
  • Maintain licensing postings weekly or "as needed" by driving to and from Arlington locations to post licenses
  • Process all licensing bonds
  • Maintain licensing files
  • Assist in coordinating, preparing and filing license renewals and related documents
  • Assist in preparing and filing annual reports for entities for all types of business with the secretaries of state and state banking departments, as required
  • Scan and file documents as needed to maintain in the system of record
  • Mail and fax documents/licensing materials
  • Assist with various projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • General support of corporate licensing department
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures
  • May also: Evaluate state and provincial license requirements and communicate with regulatory agencies to ensure that all applications/renewals and related financial reports for all GM Financial entities are accurately filed on or before regulatory licensing deadlines and/or business objective deadlines to ensure that all business activity is being performed under the correct license and according to each state's licensing requirements
  • Collaborate with various GM Financial departments to obtain accurate information for scheduled financial reporting to state regulatory agencies for all GM Financial entities
  • Review and disseminate compliance information, law revisions, and other industry communications received from state agencies and regulatory bodies, plus perform periodic research of regulatory websites and publications for changes in legislative or provincial licensing requirements and communicate to all affected GM Financial departments
  • Analyze new originations for cross border business activity in the branches to ensure that there are no licensing issues and provide a monthly update to branch management reflecting any cross border business activity to prevent regulatory compliance issues
  • Work closely with Facilities and branch management during branch relocations and/or new branch openings to determine applicable licensing changes
  • Research US, Canadian and international licensing requirements in order to provide appropriate guidance to the business units regarding regulatory compliance requirements for new initiatives
  • File appropriate applications to obtain certificates of authority and licenses for new business initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all corporate policies and procedures


  • Prior experience in a corporate legal or compliance environment
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal and provincial laws with regards to consumer and commercial finance as it applies to GM Financial
  • Proficiency with online regulatory licensing systems, including NMLS, NIPR, and national banking departments, as well as online systems for each Secretary of State
  • Proficiency with various databases, including legal research software, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Outlook


  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with consulting attorneys, court officials, regulatory agencies and the general public
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with corporate personnel, customers and contractors
  • Ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage heavy workload in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents to protect the corporation's interest
  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Must be able to work independently and able to use computerized research tools

Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to preserve & protect proprietary and confidential information
  • Excellent computer skills required
  • Experience in the field of providing legal support in a corporate environment with minimal supervision, and must have experience working with executive levels of corporate management


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required


  • 0-2 years ​experience in the legal field required
