Apex Systems has an opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer in the Nashville area.
The main function of a systems engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical systems engineer analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs.
The responsibilities of this position are:
*Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to existing databases and database management systems.
*Direct others in coding logical and physical database descriptions. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
*Review and approve database development and determine project scope and limitations. Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
*Implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
*Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.

*Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
*Expert knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
*High ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
*Expert knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
*Expert knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms:
1. Automate security technologies in the Cloud
I. Improve and Automate the AWS WAF Implementation
2. Implement Cloud Security technologies
I. Twistlock – Automate, implement and deploy Twistlock to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack
3. Cloud Gold Image Enforcement
i. Provide best practices or third-party solutions in preventing running non-approved machine images to AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
4. Encryption Enforcement
i. Provide best practices or third-party solutions in preventing and alerting cloud services that failed to meet the encryption by default requirement
3. Virtual Palo Alto in AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
i. Review the current architecture to identify areas of improvement where applicable and where a clear gap is identified
Create Security Architecture Patterns
• Create the security architecture patterns for different CSPs’ HIPAA eligible services that the design must include how the services integrate with CHC security solutions
• Ensure that the security architecture remains consistent with the goals of the existing security solution pattern and the defined security requirements.
Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. 10+ years experience required.
