Network/Systems Administrator

Come join GDIT team working with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeking a strong Network/Systems Administrator for our DARPA program in the Northern Virginia area.


Requires a good working knowledge of systems and network administration and information systems.  Should be able to distinguish between hardware problems, software problems or user error.  Manages servers, set up administrator and service accounts, remediation of system vulnerabilities to include STIG compliance, analyze requirements for deployment of new desktop applications, create deployment plans and automation processes for new applications, desktop image creation and validation using system center configuration manager, maintain updated drive packs for various hardware vendors including Dell and HP, oversee implementation and testing strategies, and interacts with users and evaluate vendor products. You may participate in special projects as required, may program in an administrative language such as PowerShell, and proactively identify issues, resolve, and make suggestions for improvements to the environment.  Must be a self-starter and ability to work tasks with little supervision or assistance, troubleshoot issues to resolution with customer impacting issues being priority and worked on until completion, monthly maintenance work required, as well as after-hours support for customer impacting issues, as required with little to no advance notice. The candidate should be able to:

  • Manages server backups and remediation of system vulnerabilities to include STIG compliance
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts
  • Participates in network installations and upgrades
  • Maintains system documentation
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products
  • May program in an administrative language such as PowerShell
  • Oversees implementation of testing strategies and documentation of results
  • Provides advice and training to end-users and help desk personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Participates in special projects as required
  • Self-starter and ability to work tasks with little supervision or assistance
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve and make suggestions for improvements to the environment
  • Troubleshoot issues to resolution with customer impacting issues being priority and worked on until completion
  • Monthly (weekend) maintenance work required, as well as after-hours support for customer impacting issues, as required with little to no advanced notice
  • Experience performing network equipment installation and maintenance, as well as configuration of this equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, full experience within own IT field and applications is required.
  • Position requires a TS/SCI Clearance.  Must be willing and able to obtain a polygraph within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by the manager.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A minimum of a IAT Level II (DoD 8570.1M) certification.
  • Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CASP, GSIH, or GCED. Training and Certification provided for applicants meeting the above requirements
