Summary
The Activities Manager is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of an activities and volunteers program designed to assist in maintaining the physical, psychological, and spiritual functions of residents.
Job Description
Organizes, directs, and provides activity programs and services that meet the recreational needs of Care Center and Swing Bed residents/patients in accordance with the state and federal requirements. Oversees the day-to-day activities of staff and volunteers of the department. Implements individualized activity plans and promotes group activities that maintain or enrich the residents' quality of life. Assists in maintaining a safe, home-like environment for the residents. Improves quality of life by providing appropriate and meaningful activities and interventions on a one-on-one and group basis. These interventions will enable residents to function at their optimal level while maintaining their dignity and identity.
Qualifications
A degree in occupational therapy, recreational therapy, and/or completion of a state-approved Activity Coordinator training program is required. Professional manner and appearance are required, along with good communication, social, and organizational skills. Licensed Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Certification in Activities desired. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) within four months of hire. Depending on location, this role classifies as a Sanford Category I or II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of a valid driver’s license. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy.
