Mercer is currently recruiting for a Government Healthcare Financial Project Manager to work in one of the following offices: Phoenix, Atlanta, Washington DC or Minneapolis.

  • The Healthcare Financial Project Manager Consultant will manage complex projects for our California Medi-Cal client.
  • This role will collaborate across levels and specialty groups (sectors) to ensure that the project is completed with a high level of client satisfaction, as well as on time and within budget and scope.

We will count on you to:

  • Develop and maintain detailed, robust project and risk plans, including resources, scope, schedule, cost, assumptions, dependencies, etc., keeping plans updated through the project lifecycle.
  • Project manage multiple tasks on different provider reimbursement analyses and other financial projects simultaneously to include the following: organize project work flow and delegate project tasks to more junior staff; manage the quality and timeliness of project deliverables; ensure client deliverables are client-ready.
  • Understand the impact of scope changes and adjust project plans and communicate accordingly.
  • Develop project-related subject matter expertise to guide efficient and effective project management and complement the skills of the project team
  • Create client call agendas, coordinate calls with client and project team and actively participate in client calls and meetings
  • Interact and maintain ongoing communication at the appropriate levels within the team as well as with the stakeholders to provide project updates and ensure roles and responsibilities are understood.
  • Share knowledge with more junior staff and provide training as needed to complete project tasks

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum of three years of healthcare or health plan/managed care industry experience required
  • Intermediate to advanced financial modelling skills
  • Thorough understanding of general health care concepts needed, with government health care program experience preferred
  • Demonstrated project management experience, with a proven ability to drive moderately complex projects to completion
  • Ability to partner and lead teams to deliver project objectives
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills

What makes you stand out:

  • Government health and/or health consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience related to the California Medi-Cal data or program, health plan analysis or capitated rate development is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
  • Ability to partner and lead mid-sized teams to deliver project objectives
  • Ability to work independently and on a team

The applicable base salary range for this role is $62,600 to $125,300.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
