Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Are you interested in making a difference in your community? The Part Time Research Aide serves as a peer provider within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology's clinical research arm at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. This position offers the opportunity to support investigators with a clinical trial that aims to improve maternal health outcomes in Black pregnant women. No prior research experience is necessary as training will be provided.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists with m aintenance of records and files of work performed and visits completed/to be completed in computer databases.
• Completes follow-up assessments and determinations of participants' progress in the study according to assigned schedules.
• Serves as a stakeholder community expert for the study team; a ssist s with community outreach and advocacy with participants, including helping with barriers to care engagement.
• May be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community and the study participants; as well as being responsible for following all phases of the study protocol as required by the sponsoring agency, university, and hospital to ensure compliance.
• Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
This is a 20 hours/week (.50 FTE) unranked academic appointment not eligible for benefits.
The Research Aid reports to a research supervisor within the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a research coordinator within University Health. They also report to the PI of all projects they assist.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• High-school degree
• Strong customer service skills
• Commitment to maintaining participant confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
• Lives within, is a community member within, or has experience with the community served by the project (i.e., Black pregnant women living in the Kansas City areas)
• Experience with research studies, preferably in clinic settings.
