About the Company and Opportunity:



  • Our client is a nonprofit organization creating positive change in challenging environments around the world. They are hiring a Project Accountant for a 100% remote role!

  • The Project Accountant is responsible for accounting and administrative duties that include monitoring and analyzing field office expenditures, program budgets, and burn rates; allocating costs; and updating cost reporting schedules, reviewing and preparing payment and wire transfer requests, and journal entries.

  • This assignment is expected to last at least 3-4 months or until a permanent replacement for the position is found. Hours: 8-5 or 9-6 (40-hour week); Background check required

  • Project Accountant (100% remote; local only): Must have bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management and minimum 3 years' nonprofit accounting experience (ideally international nonprofit). Abila MiP software experience is preferred.

  • Pay rates $35 - $38 an hour. For a strong candidate, this position could turn into a perm role!


Overview of the Project Accountant role:



  • The Project Accountant is responsible for accounting and administrative duties that include monitoring and analyzing field office expenditures, program budgets, and burn rates; allocating costs; and updating cost reporting schedules, reviewing and preparing payment and wire transfer requests, and journal entries.


Preferred Qualifications for the Project Accountant:



  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration.

  • Prior experience with an international and/or non-profit organization is a plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.

  • Intermediate Excel - Pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.



  • Knowledge of Abila MiP or similar accounting software preferred.

  • Knowledge of US Federal funding requirements, 2 CFR Part 200 preferred.
