Description/Job Summary

Registered Nurse (Weekend Shift)

Summary
New Start II at Jackson Street is a long-term residential treatment facility that provides intensive drug and alcohol treatment and mental health support services to chronically homeless males. The program treatment design is an individualized level system, assisting residents in establishing psychosocial supports necessary for independent living.

The Registered Nurse working for RHD's New Start II program provides medical care primarily to individuals involved in RHD's detoxification services.  The RN will also provide medical services including medication monitoring to all persons involved with services provided by RHD's New Start II.
 
Essential Duties and Functions

  • Maintain nursing documentation and medication records.
  • Follow all agency, MCO, County, State and licensing regulations.
  • Supervise consumers to ensure safety and health of all residents and oversee staff assignments.
  • Review quality assurance of medication monitoring by staff.
  • Assessment of client health and emotional needs.
  • Follow agency protocols for assessment, documentation and reporting or client issues and status.
  • Provide nursing care such as wound care, trach care, diabetic counseling, etc. as needed.
  • Communicate with other members of the nursing staff including report at the change of shift and informing the Nurse Manager of important matters.
  • Team with staff during crisis intervention to deescalate and re-direct client during periods of emotional distress.
  • Counsel and support clients regarding goals, feelings, and policies of program. Support staff in therapeutic process.
  • Interaction with family members, ICMs (Intensive Case Managers), adjunct staff, and other professionals.
  • Complete assessments as required by written or verbal protocols.
  • Complete blood draws as required and complete requisitions forms for testing.
  • Assist with organization and ordering of medical supplies.
  • Supervise client submission of urine for analysis, complete in office testing and/or complete requisitions for testing at an outside laboratory.
  • Assistance with meals, baths, and cleaning may be required.
  • Attend trainings and other staff meetings
  • Provide training to the staff about medical conditions/considerations that pertain to the population served.
  • Remain awake and alert on all shifts worked
  • Facilitate educational groups with staff and/or residents
  • Other duties as required by Management.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3 years of experience required, preferably in behavioral health/MAT
  • Experience in a drug and alcohol detoxification setting preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • ACT 33/34 clearance.
  • FBI clearance, as needed
