POSITION PURPOSE:

 

Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) is looking for a Sales Representative Biofuels Co-products to join our European Sales & Trading Team. The position will be located in Amsterdam and supported by the local team. The purpose of this role is to develop market intelligence and increase the value of REG’s co-products from biodiesel production by marketing the products in Europe and seeking trading opportunities internationally. Assessing market potentials and developing new markets for co-products and other energy solutions will be a crucial responsibility within this position. This role will also support the Sales & Trading desk in managing front, middle and back office tasks as well as market and price analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Market research: Develop a deep understanding of European and International markets for glycerin and other co-products, including buyers, sellers, plants and competitors
  • Conduct research to identify new European and International markets and customer needs
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets

Business development:

  • Develop an effective pipeline of new strategic projects and customers while promoting

the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives (for coproducts and other energy solutions)

  • Seek new business opportunities and find new applications for REG’s products in order

to increase the product value and develop trading opportunities

  • Establish proactively contact to potential customers / business partners
  • Conduct on-site meetings and discussions with potential customers about their needs,

processes and products being of interest

  • Close collaboration with the US team for exchanging market knowledge, developing

trading opportunities and creating best solutions for REG’s customers

  • Develop relationships with companies for potential strategic alignment and long-term  collaboration

Sales strategy and execution:

  • Conduct day-to-day sales initiatives and maintain the current daily sales activities to

existing customers

  • Stay knowledgeable about all products and services and their commercial impact offered by the business
  • Maximizing the product value and sales volumes to existing customers and develop sales

to new customers while focusing on customer satisfaction

  • Evaluate product & service marketability in terms of customers’ technical & energy needs
  • Understand blending economics and operations in order to provide a broader product base

to customers

  • Act upon market view within given limitations for risk mitigation

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Represent the company in conferences, fairs and other external or internal events
  • Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support / claim management
  • Support the setup of quality management procedures and measures for co-products
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers

Sales and Trading support:

  • Support the Biodiesel Sales & Trading desk in the day-to-day biodiesel sales & trading activities and administration (front, middle and back-office tasks)
  • Coordinate between the Sales & Trading team and other departments such as Supply Chain, Quality Management, Procurement, etc.
  • Data and market analysis and process support for the Sales & Trading team

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • At least 2 years of work experience preferably in a fuel/bio-fuel or commodity related

industry, with experience in sales, trading, business development, and/or project

management

  • Strong team player who enjoys working in an international environment
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit, creative mind, and connected thinking
  • Highly self-motivated, able to drive for results with little to no supervision
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and German, other European languages are a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software
  • Travel required: 20-30%
