Monitor daily EC readings.
Coordinate wastewater sampling activities with lab.
Prepare monthly wastewater self-monitoring reports and review with management.
Assist in preparing wastewater discharge permit applications.
Manage storm water inspections and sampling; prepare annual storm water report.
Prepare and submit hazardous materials business plans.
Collect chemical inventory information from vendors/suppliers.
Maintain hazardous waste/non-hazardous waste program.
Oversee air emissions monitoring and permitting.
Coordinate Risk Management Program/Process Safety Management activities.
Maintain the implement elements of the Saputo Environmental Handbook; develop environmental standard operating procedures.
Train employees on environmental awareness and source reduction.
Interface with regulatory officials in environmental and permitting issues.
Coordinate and implement environmental programs with corporate Environmental Affairs.
Participate in environmental audit activities.
Maintain all environmental records as required by law.
Review regulations and insuring compliance.

Health and Safety
Review incident reports and assist with corrective actions.
Perform/review JSA’s for all plant positions annually.
Maintain inventory of all plant required PPE, work to provide best PPE options.
Maintain Health and Safety programs.
Develop and enhance policies and procedures.
Conduct inspections and audits.
Work with Human Resources to assist with the Worker’s Compensation programs.
Maintain updated information by attending Safety related training courses.
Help facilitate annual Safety training.
Provide Safety training at new hire orientations & at any other time, as needed.
Participate in facility Plant Safety meetings.
Evaluate and present Safety related plant projects, participate in project meetings.
Analyze historical data to identify root causes and patterns in safety.
Follow up on corporate safety audits action items and management of the action log.
Conduct LOTO and Confined Space audits; Fall Protection inspections.
Risk Assessment and site preparedness for emergency action plans.
Prepare and participate in corporate safety audits.
Safety Management systems (SDS, Safelink, Brady) liaison and management follow up.
Provide leadership in all areas of Health and Safety and perform additional duties as required.
Assess costs to the company from safety incidents and report to management to facilitate decision making.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Risk Management, or the equivalent combination of relevant experience and education and 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.
Ability to read and interpret OSHA standards.
Ability to develop relationships and effectively influence all levels internally (i.e. management teams) and externally.
Strong strategic thinking skills with broad-based business acumen and experience, with proven ability to identify opportunities and lead change initiatives.
Ability to train and motivate others to champion Health and Safety success. Ability to also train in Spanish a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritization, time management, organizational and analytical skills.
Strong communication and analytical skills. Must be fluent in English & knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and manufacturing software.
